Get Involved

YUKI Communities CIC operates a structured referral pathway for young people who would benefit from positive engagement through our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu programmes delivered at DMAC.

Referrals can be made through youth services, schools, local authorities, and partner organisations. Each referral is supported by regular feedback and progress updates provided to the referring agency, ensuring transparency and consistent communication.

Our core age range is 8 to 16 years old. However, where a young person is a semi-independent care leaver, an alternative referral route may be applied to ensure appropriate safeguarding and tailored support.

Looked-After Children

Looked-after children may be referred by their allocated social workers as part of their individual support plans. YUKI Communities CIC works closely with local authorities to ensure safeguarding, clear communication, and ongoing monitoring of each young person’s progress and wellbeing.

Semi-Independent Care Leavers

Young people aged 16 to 21 who are living in semi-independent accommodation, or who are involved with probation services, may be referred by probation officers, key workers, youth offending teams, or accommodation providers.

Our programmes provide a structured, supportive environment focused on discipline, personal development, confidence building, and positive community engagement.

How Jiu Jitsu Changes Young Lives

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is much more than a sport. For children and young people aged 8 to 18, it becomes a powerful tool for building confidence, emotional strength, and positive life habits.

Many young people experience anxiety, low self-esteem, stress, or emotional pressure. Some feel overwhelmed, vulnerable, or unsure of themselves. YUKI uses Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to create a safe and supportive environment where young people can grow, feel valued, and regain belief in their own ability.

Emotional Wellbeing & Mental Strength

Regular Jiu Jitsu training helps young people:

• Reduce stress and anxiety

• Improve emotional control and calmness

• Build resilience and confidence

• Develop focus and self-discipline

• Feel more positive and motivated

The structure of each class provides stability, routine, and a sense of achievement helping young people feel more secure and in control.

Supporting Vulnerable

For children and young people who have experienced trauma, neglect, or emotional distress, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu offers:

• A safe way to release stress and tension

• Improved emotional regulation and coping skills

• A positive sense of belonging

• Supportive relationships with trusted adults

• Opportunities to rebuild confidence and trust

Our programmes help young people feel stronger, calmer, and more secure physically, emotionally, and socially.

Confidence, Discipline & Social Skills

Through achievable progress and clear goals, young people learn:

• Self-belief and healthy self-esteem

• Respect, teamwork, and communication

• Responsibility and positive behaviour

• How to manage pressure and challenges

They are supported by qualified instructors who act as positive role models and mentors.

Together, we can create opportunities and a brighter future for young people.
